Commercial Pilot Certificate Curriculum - Instrument Rating Curriculum

1. FAA Minimum Requirements

Under Part 61 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), you must receive at least a total of 40 hours of flight time, including a minimum of 20 hours of flight training from a certificated flight instructor, and a minimum of 10 hours of solo flight time in an airplane. The actual times vary based on students' rate of progress. Many students meet the minimums in 65-80 hours.

4. Notes

All flight cost estimates are based on a conventional Cessna 172. Add an average of $1,750.00 to the estimated total in section 2 above, for training in a Cessna 172 SP with G1000 Integrated Avionics. Approximate costs in section 2 are based on current rates and average expected course completion times. Actual costs will vary based on factors such as applicant proficiency, speed of progress, and actual time to complete the program. Hourly rates are subject to change.
